Section 8 / Housing Choice Voucher inspections in Hamilton County
Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority administers Housing Choice Vouchers in Hamilton County. Rentals here range from older multi-unit buildings in Cincinnati and Norwood and newer complexes around Blue Ash and Sharonville, so what needs attention before an inspection differs from unit to unit. The official HQS or NSPIRE inspection is done by the housing authority; ATK is independent and does not perform or replace it.
Services for Hamilton County landlords

- Failed-inspection help – bring us the deficiency list and we confirm repairs before you request the re-inspection.
- NSPIRE readiness – get ahead of HUD’s switch from HQS to NSPIRE.
For housing agencies and property managers

NSPIRE inspections in Hamilton County
ATK does NSPIRE mock inspections and pre-inspections for public housing, HUD-assisted multifamily owners and HCV landlords in Cincinnati, Norwood and Sharonville. Voucher units in the county are inspected by the local housing authority (Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority for most of the county); under HUD's Notice PIH 2026-18, PHAs must use NSPIRE standards (NSPIRE-V) for voucher inspections by February 1, 2027. Ask your PHA which standard it uses now. ATK is independent and not affiliated with Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority or HUD.
Common items we check include working smoke and CO alarms, GFCI protection near water, heat and hot water, handrails on stairs, windows that open and lock, and peeling paint in homes built before 1978.
See the NSPIRE checklist for Ohio properties, life-threatening items, NSPIRE scoring and mock inspections.
